Queenslanders |
When people think of a Queenslander home they often imagine a timber home raised on stumps with large open verandahs and a galvanized iron roof. There is a special charm and elegance of this distinctive style of home that brings to mind our heritage and sense of family tradition. In the early days, the houses were built from single skin chamferboard nailed to the inside of an exposed stud frame. It was the earliest form of pre-cut buildings adopted partly for cost and for ease of mobility More importantly, the structures manifested a culture that is distinctly Australian and underpin the notion of applying a practical design sense to buildings in response to the climate. A Stainton Queenslander is an expansion of these elements |
